ThovaLai - The flower village

ThovaLai is a beautiful, greenish village located in Kanyakumari district.It is situated in the highway running between Tirunelveli and Nagercoil near Aramboly Gap, a pass or natural depression through western ghats ranges which connects Kanyakumari district to rest of Tamil Nadu .


This small town is famous for two reasons. One is the Murugan Temple and the other is flower market here. 


God Murugan here is called as "ThovaLai Murugan" and the temple is on a small hill. Soora samharam is the famous festival here. Also Malar muzhukku vizha is also very famous. Another murugan temple in Chekkergiri malai also a famous one.


The flower market situated here is exporting all varieties of flowers to many places. Pichi, Sampangi, Malligai, Kanagamparam, vaadamalli, rose, kaakadai, kozhi poo, kenthi and chevanthi are the verities of flowers available in the market through out the year. 


CSI Institute of Technology, an Engineering college and a Government Higher Secondary School are here in this village. 


Thovalai channel, a small river from Pechiparai dam is running thru this village.
