Kanyakumari is the southernmost tip of India. It is beleived that the first man in earth lived in this land several million years ago. It was called as Kumari kandam or Lemuria continent then. During a violent geologic catastrophe the entire island was submerged under the water.

Triveni Sangamam - It is the place where the three water bodies - Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal and Arabian sea meeting. We can see Triveni sangamam here.
Sun Rise and Sun Set - It is one of the two places in the world where we can see sun rise and sun set from the same place throughout the year.
Bhagavathi Amman Temple - A story behind this temple behind this godess. Kanya Devi or Kanyakumari Bagavathi amman, an avatar of Parvati, was to marry Shiva, but as he failed to show up on his wedding day. So the godess is considered as virgin or Kumari.
Vivekananda Rock - The memorial stands on one of two rocks located about 500 meters off mainland. It was built in 1970 by the Vivekananda Rock Memorial Committee in honour of the visit of the great spiritual teacher Swami Vivekananda to Shripada Parai during the month of December 1892 for deep meditation and enlightenment. He swam to this rock and meditated about the past, present and future of India. It is said that he attained enlightenment on the rock, and henceforth became a reformer and philosopher
The Thiruvalluar statue - The statue is a 133 feet (40.5 m) tall stone sculpture of the Tamil poet and saint Tiruvalluvar, author of the Thirukkural. It was opened in January 1, 2000. The statue has a height of 95 feet (29 m) and stands upon a 38 foot (11.5 m) pedestal that represents the 38 chapters of "virtue" in the Thirukkural. The statue standing on the pedestal represents "wealth" and "pleasure", signifying that wealth and love be earned and enjoyed on the foundation of solid virtue. The combined height of the statue and pedestal is 133 feet (40.5 m), denoting the 133 chapters in the Thirukkural. It has a total weight of 7000 tons.
Gandhi Mandapam - The Gandhi Memorial has been built on the spot where the urn containing the Mahatma's ashes was kept for public viewing before immersion. Resembling central Indian Hindu temples in form, the memorial was designed in such a way that on Mahatma Gandhi's birthday, 2 October, the first rays of the sun fall on the exact place where his ashes were kept.
Kamarajar Mandapam - The memorial was constructed on the seashore, where the ashes of the Late Leader Kamarajar was immersed. The Memorial spreads on extent of 6,300 sq.mt. now contains the photographs narrating the life and services of the great leader. The Memorial was dedicated to the nation by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on 2-10.2000.
